LAHORE: In a bid to protect the textile ministry, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) Chairman Usman Jawaad has urged the government not to merge the ministry of textile with any other.

According to OHMA chairman Usman Jawaad, a separate textile ministry was established after several years of struggle. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Jawaad urged that any such suggestion by others should be snubbed with political force.

According to Jawaad, a separate textile ministry was established after several years of struggle. Keeping in view this industry’s contribution to the gross domestic product, national economy export earning and employment, it plays a significant role in the economy.

“Many countries, including our neighbour India, have a separate textile ministry.” The PHMA chief expressed his dismay at the fact that the textile ministry was denied the power to make necessary policies.
